Freshness, precision and purity are the signature of Lombardi Champagnes. We only make use of the first press juice, whose essence is expressed only after maturing on the lees for at least 24 months, then resting in the bottle for 6 to 18 months after disgorgement. This prolonged aging process gives our wines great finesse. It brings sophisticated and complex aromas with a delicate and pure finish. Our passion for Pinot Noir, the typical grape of the region, is illustrated in our Blancs de Noirs, champagnes of character which unfold in an infinitely aromatic richness. Amateur or connoisseur, you will be seduced by the range of flavor offered in our cuvées to be enjoyed on all occasions, during an aperitif with friends or with a gourmet meal.
The taste of simplicity, the art of sophistication
CHAMPAGNE LOMBARDI
Our story
Surrounding himself with the best experts (winemakers, oenologists, sommeliers), Stéphane Lombardi set out to prepare his first cuvée. It was finally released in 2011, a symbolic year since it also marks the birth of his daughter, Camille. His bet paid off! The professional press was quickly charmed, with Wine Spectator even giving a score of 92/100. This recognition, or rite of passage for such an outsider, encourages him to stay the course.
Soon thereafter came a complete range of Champagnes with a Blanc de Noirs, Blanc de Blancs, Brut, Rosé and a vintage Blanc de Noirs. Creative and innovative, Stéphane Lombardi prefers to work with the Pinot Noir, the typical grape of his region. He particularly appreciates this varietal for the infinite palette of wines that it is able to create, notably several of his impressive Blancs de Noirs, achieved through subtle variations in dosage and cultivation.
The last born is the Blancs de Noirs Extra Brut with a dosage below 4 grams of sugar per liter.
Passionate purist and convivial wine enthusiast
It has been more than ten years since the Champagne adventure started for Stéphane Lombardi. After having worked in major international groups specializing in wines and spirits, traveling the globe and discovering some of the finest terroirs and varietals, he naturally focused his attention on Champagne. This “elegant and precious” wine, as he describes it, is particularly interesting to him for its complex development, which he compares to pastry: “a mixture of technique and know-how, of chemical reactions, of patience and methodology… a blend that aims for a certain perfection in taste, offering sweetness to both the palate and the spirit”.
A native of Lyon, Stéphane Lombardi is a bit like the famous “mothers of Lyon”, who have woven the history of local gastronomy, with a rich, simple and authentic cuisine based on highest-quality products. Their recipes managed to bring together in one simple yet inviting place, both the bourgeois and the working class. It’s not surprising to find Stéphane’s Cuvée in Lyonnaise restaurants such as La Mère Brazier, Le Gourmet de Sèze…
